The study on the topic "Use of e- Resources by the student of IPS Institute of Professional Studies) and other faculties of University of Allahabad" was started in the month of July 2010. The present study has been carried out through questionnaire tools distributed among the students of Institute of Professional Studies and other faculties of University of Allahabad. The aim of this study was to various advantages of e-resources and to know the availability of different types of electronic resources and services in the libraries of IPS and other faculties and to compare the frequency of use of electronic resources by the students of IPS and other faculties and ascertain the advantages and the problems experienced by the students while accessing and using the electronic resources in the library. According to the survey maximum students of IPS are satisfied with the resources available in the library comparative to other faculty of university of Allahabad, sufficient Internet is being provided for fulfillment of reading purpose. According to the survey opinion of students of is quite helpful in their study and research work as well as the staff is very co-operative and motivator.
Research Output Of Library And Information Science: Doctoral Degrees Awarded In Madhya Pradesh And Chattisgarh

This article traces the growth and development of Ph.D. programmes in LIS education in India and highlights the initiatives and efforts of contemporary LIS professionals in Central part of India, (namely Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh). Analysis of doctoral researches conducted by universities clearly indicates that the direction in which, a specific subject field is moving. It also indicates the thrust or grey areas of research that call for attention from researchers. The present analysis depicts the research contribution to the Library and Information Science repository. The study shows that the maximum research was done in the area of Information Sources and Services i.e.15 (33.33%). And the state of Madhya Pradesh is the highest contributor i.e., 37 (82.22%) to the field of LIS in terms of doctoral research productivity.

Use Of Internet By Faculty Members And Research Scholars At Gb Pant Library Dsb Campus, Kumaun University, Nainital

The article reveals about the use of the Internet in libraries by faculty members and research scholars at GB Pant Library, DSB Campus, Kumaun University Nainital. A total of 150 questionnaires were distributed, 40 to faculty and 110 to research scholars. A total of 140 valid questionnaires were collected from faculty members (34) and research scholars (106). The response rate was 86.67%. The study reveals that research scholars use internet daily and their favorite place for accessing it is GB Pant Library. Research and education are the top reasons for accessing internet. However open access journals are most preferred resources. But most respondents face downloading problem due to low speed.

Usability Of The Library Portal: A Case Study Of Iit Delhi Library

This paper evaluates the level of awareness and use of library portals by the PG Students and Research Scholars of IIT Delhi. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to the Postgraduate Students and Research Scholars of various departments at IIT Delhi. The present study was undertaken to determine the awareness about library portal, frequency of their use, and mode of access to the library portal. Relevancy of the resources available on library portal, value of portal, use of information sources and services provided and overall satisfaction for library portal were also find out by the investigator. The survey found that the majority of the students use library portals. The study also found that the reasons for not using the library portal were lack of awareness, training and guidance, and the lack of contents on the library portal. The analysis reveals that majority of the respondents also expressed that they needed instructions and help for the effective utilisation of resources on the library portal.

Library and Information Science (LIS) is a growing subject where various kinds of research work carried out on varied subjects. This paper tries to give a brief overview of the research work done in library and information science in India. For the purpose of gathering various information sources like Online Union Catalogue of Indian Universities (Indcat), Vidyanidhi and Sodhganga, are consulted. The results are shown in different tables considering different points of view. Suggestions are given at the end to improve the quality of LIS research in India.

Till the time LIS people are used to with digital repository softwares like DSpace, e-Prints, GreenStones, Fedora etc. But ResourceSpace is basically a Digital Assets Management system which can be modified and can be used as a Digital Archive Management tool. This paper, briefly explain the requirements, implementation process, features and limitation of the ResourceSpace.
